Meet Rockzillaworld
We've managed to put together an amazingly diverse and talented
group. All of these folks work very hard to make the Rockzillaworld
site as good as it can be, and they do it without pay. We'd like
to say that it's all about the music, but let's face it, most
of us are here for pure self aggrandizement.

|
Michael Johnson Site Owner, Publisher,
Dreamer, and resident crank. Without a doubt, Johnson
is the weakest link in the Rockzillaworld chain. He writes a
few reviews, an occasioinal rambling feature, and just generally
annoys and embarasses the rest of the staff, who often feel compelled
to apologize for his actions. In real life, Johnson is a commercial
photographer. |

Bonny
Holder Senior Reporter, Front Range. Bonny brings
30 years of experience, and a tell-it-like-it-is style of writing
that our readers really seem to appreciate.
Bonny was born (Kaske) in Milwaukee on November 4, 1948. She
has lived in the mountains of New Mexico for the past 15 years.
Her B.A. is in journalism, from Union Institute ("no halls,
no walls") in Cincinnati. She co-ran a folk coffeehouse
called "Chrysanthemum", in Madison during the mid-1970's
("We opened, and closed, with Bob Gibson") and was
Assistant Manager at the legendary Blue River Cafe in Milwaukee
during the early 1980's.
Bonny has done everything in the music business but perform.
Her reviews (as Bonny Celine, her middle name) have appeared
in print media as varied as "Boston Broadside", "Milwaukee
Journal- Sentinel", "Milwaukee Magazine", "Madison
Isthmus", "Madison Press Connection" and in most
New Mexican publications at one time or another. "Oh, and
there was that one week I worked at the Hope, AR, `Star', right
after Clinton won, she said. "It was Christmas, and the
news plant was right across the street from Clinton's childhood
home, at that time all burned out. The sun never came out the
whole week I was there".
Cheap Trick was Bonny's high school band. She is married to
the Deputy Provost of the University of New Mexico, who is also
a Professor of Organic Chemistry, of which she knows nothing.
She has two grown children, Colby Christofferson and Molly Christofferson,
who never call.

Al Kunz Staff Writer.
A promising musical career was stillborn in the late 60's when,
in keeping with the times, Al Kunz quit piano lessons in protest
over the amount of practice expected. After pitching his 6th
grade softball team to the school championship he retired from
athletics, realizing that he didn't have what it takes to compete
at the next level.
Over the next several years his most notable accomplishment
was amassing a collection of over 1000 vinyl records, largely
by artists none of his friends had heard of. Forced by adulthood
to choose a career he decided the path to fame and fortune was
in the computer field. It happened for Bill Gates; it may still
for Al. After working with the ex-drummer for the Osmond Brothers,
a substitute drummer for Chris LeDoux, and the drummer for a
1990's incarnation of Badfinger, he realized he had been a pioneer
for others by abandoning a music career for the exciting world
of computers.
Fleeing the cultural wasteland of Utah he worked as an itinerant
computer programmer in such musical hotbeds as Chicago, Memphis,
and Clovis, NM, which had peaked 40 years earlier as the site
of the studio that recorded Buddy Holly's early hits. Settling
for a time in Houston he developed an appreciation for the 'Musical
Family Robison' and other purveyors of great Texas music.
Al is now living in Minneapolis, hometown of the Artist sometimes
known as Prince, where he engages in guerrilla marketing by moving
the CDs of Texas artists at local record stores to the front
of the stack. As the Upper-Midwest correspondent for Rockzillaworld
he is searching the local music scene for promising new artists
untainted by producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis or the 'Minneapolis
Sound', Minnesota acts in the tradition of the Jayhawks, the
Honeydogs, and that Bobby Zimmerman kid from up north.

Marianne
Ebertowski Staff Writer. Marianne
was born in Germany and shares her birthday with Johnny Cash
(the day, not the year). She fell in love with Maybelle, Sara
and A.P. when her class mates raved about John, Paul, George
and Ringo. Can't remember where she picked up that sort of music.
Probably the Armed Forces Network (AFN). Wanted to be a cowboy
or an Indian throughout her entire childhood. Had to settle for
lesser career options later in life. Left Germany as soon as
legally possible to become a good citizen of a neighboring country--
The Netherlands. Took a degree in linguistics, became a researcher
at Nijmegen University, a journalist for a struggling magazine
in Amsterdam, a struggling and, mostly, unpaid journalist in
London and, finally, landed a job in Brussels with the first
group of environmentalist parties in the European Parliament.
Still earns her daily bread in the margins of politics. Writes
about Americana music for various print and web publications.
Plays guitar almost as badly as Kinky Friedman, told him so,
and got a big grin and a handful of guitar picks with his name
on them in return Her guitar playing has improved considerably
since then. Is a huge admirer of Hunter S. Thompson's Gonzo journalism
and Raymond Carver's poetry. Hopes to one day write the great
American novel. (Just kiddin', folks) |

BJ Weikert
Staff Writer B.J. Weikert works as a chef on Hilton
Head Island, SC and has a hip wife, and a two rug-rats (one of
each gender). He's been listening to music and trying to figure
out how to write about it ever since he was a living horror to
his teachers in grammar school.
- He loves traditional country, alternative country (borrowing
from the great Johnny Cash: "alternative to what?"),
bluegrass, blues, rock and roll, folk music with balls, and any
other off-kilter genre that happens to catch his ear. Although
he resides in South Carolina, he's always keeping up with what's
going on in the Texas music scene just because he thinks Texas
kicks ass. He also likes to play with knives and dead animal
flesh at times.
