The Gloomy Day

by Jessica Brooks, 12/26/2000

The icicle lights are droopy
In a sad kind of way.
Oh today is dreary
What a gloomy kind of day.
For 'tis the day after Christmas
All the fun is gone.
We've opened all our presents
I lost one on the lawn.
The rain is pouring down
Hard on the tin rooftop,
The whole world seems flooded
Like it was swept with a giant mop.
The blinking lights aren't blinking
As fast as yeasterday,
For they are blinking very slowly,
On this gloomy day.
